Jauchzet dem Herrn: German Psalms through the Centuries

While J.S. Bach's monumental Passions, prolific cantatas, and intricate motets rightfully loom large over all German choral repertoire, many other German composers have made remarkable contributions over the centuries - both before and after Herr Bach.

The exquisite poetry of the Psalms has provided generations of composers with inspiration for expressive and inventive vocal writing. Join us in March for a sampling of centuries of German psalmody, featuring the music of Mendelssohn, Brahms, Schubert, Hassler and others.

May 21, 2023 at 4:00 pm

The remainder of our season will also encompass a wide range of composers, including music by Orlando Gibbons, Salamone Rossi, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, Jake Runestad, and Shawn Kirchner, among others.
